Karen Robinet

I was born in England, and moved to Canada as a child. My family and I first lived in Cambridge before moving to Chatham in 1975 when my father became the Advertising Manager of The Chatham Daily News. He eventually opened his own sign painting/tattooing business and my mother was involved with real estate for a while.

Two of my sisters and I attended the former Chatham Collegiate Institute, while our youngest sister, who had Down Syndrome, went to CKSS.

After studying journalism, I worked in a number of different locations before landing back in Chatham where my husband Don and I raised our two sons.

Outside of work and family, I’ve been actively involved with Theatre Kent off and on since its inception, and founded The Kent Writers Guild back in the 1980s.
